Carly Alcala, Antique Hunter & Vintage Flipper

What is Loads of Character?

After collecting a few vintage items, I realized I loved antiques and old things and wanted to learn more about them. This blog reports all of my research, findings, advice, and recommendations on what types of items to look for in your own antique hunting. My goal is to streamline all of the most useful information out there to fellow antique lovers like me. I also want to offer tips on thrift flipping and what items might be best to alter and update (and which ones should be kept original for the best possible value). Another goal includes finding affordable quality dupes of expensive items to share with my readers. From antique brand names and history to tips on finding gems in unlikely places, this blog offers a comprehensive guide on old things looking for new beginnings in your home!

Career-wise I’ve done everything from working at an after school daycare, serving at a brewery, supporting around 20 scientists and engineers, collecting past due mortgages, and working as a communications strategist at a church. Currently I write resumes and freelance write. I dream of writing full-time.

In my free time I enjoy reading all kinds of books, playing frisbee-related sports when it’s warm, eating good food, working out, playing board/video games with friends, and buffing up on my pop culture knowledge. I currently live in Sierra Vista, Arizona with my husband and Great Dane mix.
